Just as fast as it rose, weekly jumbo mortgage business reversed course — leading overall new mortgage activity lower this past week.

Compared to a year prior, the index — a reflection of average per-user rate locks by OpenClose clients — has tumbled 30 percent.

Movement Mortgage Originations Leap
Solid quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year gains were made in originations at Movement Mortgage LLC. Staffing was also solidly higher, and servicing grew.

The Virginia Beach, Virginia-based firm disclosed its operational statistics as part of the Mortgage Daily Third Quarter 2015 Mortgage Origination Survey.

VA Updates Mortgage Policies for Same-Sex Couples
The Department of Veterans Affairs has revised its policies for processing and underwriting loan applications for same-sex married couples.

In addition, the decision held that couples who were married in another state must be recognized as married in the states where they reside.

Banks Advised About TRID Examinations
Chief executives and compliance officers of small- to mid-sized banks have been advised about what to expect in integrated disclosure rule compliance examinations.

The Truth in Lending Act and Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act Integrated Disclosure Rule went into effect for loans with an application taken on or after Oct. 3.

The rule from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau includes a new Loan Estimate and a new Closing Disclosure. Both forms replace previously used disclosures.

Originations Slip, Losses Widen at Walter
On trend with most of its peers, Walter Investment Management Corp. saw home loan production dip. Delinquency rose, and losses widened, but the servicing portfolio grew.

Third-quarter residential loan originations at Walter Investment came to seven percent less than was originated during the period that started on April 1 and ended on June 30.
